Bartow’s senior running back Tim Jordan and his Yellow Jackets trailed the George Jenkins Eagles 10-9 going into the game’s final quarter.

“We got frustrated,” he said. “We weren’t thinking or playing like we usually do; like we should.”

The Yellow Jackets leaned on Jordan in the second half and he finished the game with 339 yards on 35 carries and three touchdowns. More importantly to Jordan, his team won. His performance made him the Polk County Football Week 2 Offensive MVP.

“After halftime we came out playing like we know how to play,” he said. “We executed. Everyone starting doing their job better and we came out with the win.”

Jordan, who stands at six feet and weighs about 180 pounds, said that his workhorse work ethic was molded while building himself as a basketball and football player during the off-season.

“This summer, going into to this year I was playing basketball and football,” he said. “I was playing AAU basketball and I would still come out every morning for football workouts from 9 to 11:30 a.m. That’s all I did. Workout and basketball. I stayed active.”

Bartow’s basketball team were regional finalists in Class 7A during the 2015-2016 season and Jordan averaged 7.5 points per game as the Yellow Jackets’ off-ball guard.

On the gridiron, Jordan said that his team doesn’t receive the same respect the basketball team, yet. A comeback road win at George Jenkins and 24-0 shut out at Lake Region on Sept. 9 may have changed people’s minds. Either way, Jordan said that the most important thing for his team and his self is self-confidence.

“Bartow is not the favored team on the road a lot,” he said. “Everybody wants us to lose. We already trying to build confidence as it is. We just have to keep our heads up, play hard, encourage each other, not worry about the crowd, and do what we do.”

Tim Jordan currently has one offer from Eastern Kentucky. He said that he has also received interest from UCF, UMass, and UNLV. He plans to study physical therapy. He currently has rushed for 608 yards on 67 carries three games through the season.
